A cancellation policy is part of the price of a hotel room. Two rooms with the same nightly rate can carry very different financial risk if your plans change.
Read the policy displayed for the selected property, room and dates before payment. A general platform explanation cannot replace the conditions attached to the reservation itself.
The four details that matter
Cancellation deadline
This is the date and time before which a request may qualify for the stated refund. Check the timezone and do not assume that "one day before check-in" means the end of that calendar day.
Refundable amount
The refundable amount can differ from the total paid. A room charge, platform fee, tax component or other disclosed amount may be treated differently. The booking summary should show the estimated refund and non-refundable portion before you submit a request.
Approval status
Submitting a cancellation request does not always cancel the reservation immediately. If review is required, the booking remains confirmed until the request is approved. Keep checking the latest status rather than assuming the room has been released.
Refund processing
Approval and money reaching your account are separate events. After a refund is initiated, the payment provider and bank may need additional processing time.
Free cancellation does not mean cancellation at any time
"Free cancellation" normally applies only inside a stated window. After the deadline, the refundable amount may decrease or become zero. Always use the policy deadline shown against your booking.
What to verify before submitting a request
- Confirm that you selected the correct booking.
- Review the suggested refund and non-refundable amount.
- Choose an accurate cancellation reason.
- Add a note when the situation needs manual context.
- Save the request status and any support communication.
Travifai shows the policy and refund estimate in the booking flow where the necessary property data is available. Read the complete Cancellation & Refund Policy for platform-level handling and use Customer Support when the displayed status does not match the action taken.
Protecting yourself from avoidable disputes
Do not rely on a verbal promise that contradicts the written reservation terms. Ask for clarification before paying, keep communication inside the platform and retain the payment confirmation. These records make it easier for both the traveller and hotelier to understand what was agreed.
